Website Design FAQs

  • I provide three ‘out-of-the-box’ website packages; Basic, Professional and E-commerce and the prices can all be found on the website design page.

Although these packages are all encompassing, I quite often have requests for additional features, more pages or complex functionality. When this happens, I will ask you for more information about the functionality you require, what the reasoning is behind it, provide you with a solution then cost for that additional work.

I am completely transparent with my pricing and will always let you know about costs beforehand so there are no surprises on your final invoice.

  • More than most of the time I’ll be able to help you. There are times when clients request complex functionality that goes beyond my expertise and for situations like this, I have a couple of very trusted developers I get on board.

I can also help you update your existing website. The best way for me to scope out any requirements you have is to gain access to the backend of your existing website and take a look around to see what's what before I commit.

  • You will need all of the content (images, videos, copy, product inventory, etc.) ready to go before we can start designing and building your website. We can develop some early stage sketches with just a suggestion of content to get the ball rolling, but having your content ready upfront makes for a smoother building process.

If you need a copywriter or a photographer, please let me know and I’ll be sure to introduce you.

  • Generally speaking this is something that you will take ownership over. For the simple reason that it ensures all billing lies with you so that renewals will be covered each time around and so that the correct details are listed for you as the owner of the website.

I can make recommendations to you and provide instructions for purchase if required.

  • I always recommend using Google Workspace (formerly known as GSuite) for your business emails and I can set this up for you as an add-on service.

This will allow for the setup of your own name@yourdomain.com email address and any alias’ you require. Further to this, Google Workspace has a whole host of applications included such as Docs (Word), Sheets (Excel), Slides (PowerPoint), Video Calling/Meets and a Calendar too.

  • Yes you can always further develop your website once it has launched to provide e-commerce functionality.

  • Absolutely! With a lot of things moving to online providers, this is certainly something that is on the rise. Speak to me about your specific requirements for selling your digital products or creating membership areas.

  • Absolutely! I have two brand packages available — Starter and Ultimate. If you need packaging too, there’s a package for that!

If you’re not seeing what’s right for you, get in touch for us to discuss.

  • When built on Squarespace or Shopify, your site will not require additional hosting fees.

You will be responsible for the fees for your platform subscription (and any add-ons like booking software, e-commerce functionality etc) as well as the purchase of your domain name(s).

  • I’m more than happy to build the site out to your needs, just let me know what pages or functionality you’re requiring.

Once the site is live, you’ll be able to manage all content yourself (following along with your tutorial videos) and add new pages in the future too.

  • If you haven’t worked with me to create a logo or brand then you’ll need to have a strong visual identity or brand guidelines for me to work from.

If you’re unsure about your existing brand, please get in touch and we can review it together before proceeding.

  • I book out quite far in advance — at least 1-2 months — so it is definitely advised to give yourself plenty time and book in.

With that said, things do shift around in my schedule and slots can become available sooner on occasion. We can scope out your requirements before booking so that you have a good idea of what you need to gather for your website then we can set realistic timelines for the project.

  • To schedule your work I require a 50% upfront payment. This payment is non-refundable. All terms are stated in your contract which I will provide before we start.

The final 50% is charged before launch with your website being put live and any files supplied once this payment clears. I provide your tutorial video 7-14 working days after launch.

  • Squarespace is a super straightforward and flexible content management system. A content management system (CMS) is a platform which allows you to build and manage websites through your browser. Best of all, the CMS is so easy to use that I recommend it to people who are not confident with “techy” things as it is so intuitive. My packages all come with tailored tutorial videos for your website so you shouldn’t be stuck when making edits.

On top of this, there is no need for running regular updates like you would on other platforms such as Wordpress. These can be costly and updates can cause more problems to untangle by your developer. Squarespace takes care of all of this so you don’t have to worry about it.

Squarespace will always create your website responsively so that it works across all screen sizes such as smartphones and tablets.

Finally, you don’t need to fork out for a hosting or an SSL certificate — all Squarespace plans include these as standard.

  • I design and build on Squarespace and Shopify. I will always suggest what suits your requirements best.

  • Shopify is an e-commerce platform specifically for selling online. It doesn’t provide quite as much creative flexibility for designing as Squarespace, but it is more advanced in terms of e-commerce functionality.

Squarespace is an incredibly flexible, creative platform with a whole eco system of products aimed at small-medium sized business — email marketing, scheduling/appointments, app-based website editing and more. It focuses mainly on content-based websites with the ability to host smaller shops.

Whereas Shopify provides a wider range of functionality associated with selling online and the opportunity to sell endless amounts of product types. Ultimately Shopify offers a more advanced inventory management system, a wider variety of payment providers, extensive dropshipping options and support for tax calculations across different countries.

  • Your site can take anywhere from 4 days to 6 months to be indexed on Google and whether or not it creeps up the search engine results pages, without paying for ads, is down to the quality of your content and your website (as well as a whole host of other things!). Building your website’s reputation with online search engines takes time. You can certainly help this by updating your site regularly and ensuring it is functioning correctly with no broken links.

  • One of the main reasons I work with Squarespace and Shopify is because they are super easy for the end client to update and manage themselves going forward.

Although I will be providing you with tailored tutorial videos bespoke to your site, the user interface for updating these platforms is very intuitive and their support is easily accessible too.

Alternatively, you can also speak to me about starting a retainer if you plan to update your site regularly and need support.
